Location: Big Timber, MT, US
Event Date: Jun 02, 2018
Erika and Derek met in high school and reconnected a few years later. From their hiking and hunting adventures, church engagements and spending time with friends and family, they both became best friends, soul mates and lovers. Derek knew he wanted to marry Erika, so he threw a firework celebration in Big Sky, MT, proposed to Erika and she said yes!
June 2nd, 2018
June 2nd was such a windy, yet beautiful and sunny day at the Lonestar Land & Cattle Co. for a wedding! I drove from Missoula and met Erika in Bozeman to drive the last stretch to her old stomping grounds in Big Timber, Montana. We drove the dirt roads alongside the antelope running in the grass fields where we arrived at the gorgeous log cabin home of family-friends who opened up their home to Erika for getting ready. The afternoon was spent getting makeup and hair done, drinking champagne and just laughing and enjoying the down time.
After everyone was ready, the bridal party and Erika headed to the location where there was the ceremony site with a stunning mountainous backdrop. The aisle of chairs lead to a beautiful arch that was made by Erika’s father.
Erika and Derek opted to do a first look (which I recommend everyone to do), so everything had been building up to this moment. Derek could not wait to see her.
Erika hid in the big red barn, waiting for Derek. We brought him to the door where she was waiting, both grinning from ear to ear. Finally, we told him to turn around and he immediately rushed to her arms. They shared that moment in the barn, hugging each other tightly, admiring each other and sharing the sweet moment together.
The Ceremony & Reception
The ceremony was nothing short of beautiful! The violinist played as everyone made their way to the location. The ceremony began with prayer amongst family and friends followed by exchanging vows and words of wisdom from the officiant.
At the reception, flavored water, cool beverages, wine, BBQ, cake and ice cream were shared while listening to great music! The night was finished with the toasts from siblings, some awesome dance moves and a sparkler send off!
Last words from the Bride and Groom
“Don’t stress! Don’t make it about other people, they are there to celebrate you as a couple. Material things are temporary, your love is forever.”
Congratulations Erika and Derek Dejong! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you next!
